PILATES

Developed in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates, this effective exercise system, originally called Contrology, has become a cornerstone of moder fitness, dance and rehabilitation.

Pilates brings to the body a sense of balance and equilibrium, more range in the joints, better breath patterns and postural awareness.

Either on the mat or equipment based and whichever level you are at, Pilates focuses on ten principles;

Control

Centre

Concentration

Precision

Flowing movements

Breathe

Alignment

Lengthening

Stamina

Body awareness

I work carefully and thoroughly to ensure these principles are implemented, moving up through levels of difficulty as you become stronger.

The benefits are many. You will quickly notice improved posture which in turn aids musculoskeletal function and promotes wellbeing.

My classes are built around a thorough warm up, plenty of stretch work and classical Pilates repertoire, my background in dance brings an element of creativity and flow to the practice.

. Movement is key to our wellbeing, free your body and your mind will follow.

Regular classes are held at Mill Rd Community Centre in Cambridge, click the booking button for details.

“I took ballet and contemporary dance lessons for many years and when I came to live in Cambridge Emma managed to replace that important space in my heart with her amazing Pilates classes. I did them religiously once a week for about 11 years (which included having two pregnancies!)

She is able to deliver an excellent lesson for all levels, including advanced. The sessions are dynamic, fun and as challenging as you need them to be! Best way to keep you in shape, stretch and strengthen your core and balance. I dont have enough thumbs up to give her!”

WORKSHOPS

Workshops take place every 6 - 8 weeks, either at Anstey Hall in Trumpington or the Mill Rd Community Centre.

Curated around different themes such as Lunar or Solstice celebrations, we explore movement, Yoga (this may be Flow or Yin) Sound Baths, Meditation, Journalling and Ritual.

We come together to enable a sense of community, chat is always given space at the end of the workshop.

If you’re feeling frazzled these workshops are always a beautiful opportunity for you to press pause and feel grounded.

Emma’s Slow Down Sunday was an amazing experience! It left me feeling particularly calm and relaxed afterwards. And two days later this feeling persists.

Highly recommend Emma’s sessions.”
